Copyrighting Creativity: Creative Values, Cultural Heritage Institutions and Systems of Intellectual Property (CULTIVATE)

Project Participants

CULTIVATE asks “what is and what ought to be the relationship between creativity, cultural heritage institutions and copyright?” Cultural heritage institutions are significant stakeholders in new digital information structures, but they have remained on the periphery of the copyright debates that digitisation has engendered in recent years. From cultural diversity to human rights and from innovation to tradition, CULTIVATE examines how systems of intellectual property contribute to the role of these institutions in the presentation of culture, as the collective memory of society, and in stimulating new creativity and innovation.
